The opening to the 2008 was the worlds greatest ever show. How can the next city to host the Olympic games, London out do it?

I was thinking as I watched NBC’s really bad coverage of that great show “What are the people who will do London’s games thinking?”
Part of the show in Beijing being so impressive was the sheer numbers of people involved. But overall, I think the whole world is still saying “WOW!”
The London Olympics don’t really need to out do the Beijing opening ceremony. I don’t think that sort of nationalism is appropriate to the Olympics. As an American, I just think we should be honest and say that China did a wonderful thing, and we should let them know that we all think so. The whole theme of their opening ceremony was unity, harmony and the world coming together.
They succeeded and I am happy for them in that regard and happy for the rest of us that we were treated to such a wonderful thing.
London will be fine. Their opening will not be an attempt to one-up Beijing nor should it be. Just so they don’t do something really bonky like the French did…

We need to be multi-cultural and include pieces with a mix of Cultural and Modern ideas. In truth, Britain has mostly been about foreign cultures, from Romans to Normans to Now. London needs to make sure it doesn’t over hype it to avoid disappointment. Also, less traditional and more modern. (We may even have to hire MTV to help us !!!)
Also, we may want to include international acts to show how much London is a global city.
Use lots of water (fake rain), lasers, fireworks, fake snow, tv screens (like in Beijing) and don’t forget those soldiers with black woolly tall hats. It needs to be diverse!
Look at what Liverpool is doing with it’s Capital of culture and also wait to see what london does in the closing ceremony.

I am watching it right now as I am typing this, and man! EPIC!!!
I don’t know if anyone can beat all that LED and precision from the performers, yet. The Chinese definitely lived up to the hype this year.
Edit: Team U.S.A. all the way!=)

London could not top it in their wildest dreams. I’m just glad that with our economy in America, we did not have to follow that spectacle. Two thumbs way up to China. They were at the top of their game.
