sure is , and the debt will go on for years and years.check the other venues it’s been at , all still owing.perhaps they should have a dedicated venue every 4 years ?

The only people who might benefit from the 2012 Olympics are those lucky sods who own houses in Stratford or anywhere near the Olympic site.
If anyone owns such a house/flat/property, advertise it out to rent for say £1,000 a week to rich Americans and you’ll be flooded with requests for more information etc.
Friend of mine who owns a house in central Athens made a fortune during the Athena Olympiad a while back.

As for muck up, well probably. You know UK, it’s all muddle through and change, etc.
It’s going to be an unmitigating disaster for Londoners, who will be paying for it and the white elephants it creates for generations to come. Ask Athens!

Yes but they will hide it well enough so it wont be a ‘muckup.’ PR and advertising can make s…t smell like roses just look at Ken Livingston and the congestion charging.

is there anyway that we could get our walnut whip money back

Well yes it is if they are going to wipe out Harlington, Harmondsworth and Sipson Villages to make the new third runway. Imagine all those homeless people searching for houses and having to downgrade because the BAA is compulsorily buying their houses and not offering them the approrpiate price for their homes.

No it will be the best and London will be in Euphoria!
    Allelujah!

as long as the same people who built, the jubilee extension, the dome, Wembley Stadium etc arn’t building it.
they need to get in those that are building Dubai and Las Vegas, They’ll have it done in a couple of weeks lol

Same as the millennium drone, a complete waste of tax payers cash, it should be spent improving life’s/hospitals etc,
who gives a **** if someone can run and hop.

  11. ifeellik says:

    No way!!
Look at the things we have screwed up in the past, from the Dome to congestion charges to immigration.
It’s going to be close, but I think immigration will win.

I honestly can’t see how they justified it. Prestige?! How can they justify this with so much else that needs to be done in London and the country. How about channeling the funds into finding the potential or even giving a secure future to all children. Not just inspiring the sporty ones to dedicate their young lives to something only the top few will be involved in.
I admire Olympic athletes and realise it puts London in the world’s limelight but…sheesh. This is going to be one hell of a moneypit. Give the Olympics back to the other countries that have recently poured billions into facilities. I know it is in the spirit of the games but surely it is in the spirit of sustainability and common sense.

It certainly is – all that money just for a measly fortnight of sport! They think that these new sports facilities will come to good use…erm I doubt it. They thought that when building the Millenium Dome. Just look at the state of East London and I think it proves that it will not be long before the site is vandalised and covered in graffiti / dirt.
