Andy C
However many awards he wins, you'll never catch Andy C resting on his Emperor-worthy laurels. The ultimate junglist ambassador, he has left seismographs crumpled and broken on every continent, and many a fellow DJ with his head held in his hands after witnessing the man's technical wizardry – and that's even if he's "only" playing on 2 decks. And the best thing is, can anyone remember seeing the Ram Records head-honcho without a great big smile on his face…? Whether it's his own night at Matter or a rare, small, intimate gig to 200, he is always clearly having the time of his life.
Shy FX
Whether collaborating with Dizzee Rascal, or garnering one of the most impressive artist rosters out there for his Digital Soundboy imprint, or writing yet another timeless anthem, Shy FX always remains right at the thick of things. Far younger than you would have guessed, Shy's incredible work ethic and commitment to the best of the new and old means that few have inspired such a dedicated following in any genre of music. He might be "Shy", but that's only cos his music does all the requisite talking…
Lemon D & Dillinja
Still the most heavyweight duo in drum'n'bass, and not just because they personally handcrafted the world's loudest rig. Innovators from day dot (Dillinja was recently judged one of the 5 most influential producers ever in the last ever issue of "Knowledge"), these boys have pushed the art of bass-science like a pair of rave-savvy Einsteins – and as we all know, the results are nothing less than atomic!
Krafty Kuts
When he entered his first ever DJ competition and got to the finals, Krafty must have realised he was on the right tracks! And he's been on those right tracks ever since, winning plaudits all over the globe. With a background in hip-hop and electro scratching and cutting, he has always stood head and shoulders over his peers, and his trademark sets are always an exciting romp through as many genres as you'd care to mention – they are just unquestionably funky, and with enough bass to put a smile on even the most hardened ravers face.
N-Type
It's no small accolade, as we know, to be touted as "The Andy C of Dubstep", but N-Type's selection and mixing prowess has seen him become unquestionably part of the Dubstep A-List. His talents have taken him to the 4 corners of the globe, and there is no bigger seal of approval for a producer than to be getting his tracks on a N-Type play list.
Hatcha
Forever remembered as the man that coined the word "dubstep", Hatcha was vital in its evolution from disparate sub-low and dark garage records into the form of music we know and love today. It was Hatcha who was getting those early tunes by Benga and Skream cut onto 10" dubplates at great personal expense so that he could push their exciting new sound. Whether rinsing the most exclusive plates on his seminal Kiss FM show, or tearing up the raves, Hatcha is as real as they come.
DJ Derek
A British Music Legend, and one of the most life-confirming acts you will ever see, Derek has been a key component in this island's enduring love-affair with dub-wise music. He used to be an accountant at Cadbury's, but gave it all up to follow his passion – collecting and playing the best reggae, ska, dancehall, rocksteady and soul music known to man. An icon in the industry, he has played with everyone from Massive Attic to the Mad Professor, and it is a privilege to have him bring his other-worldly vibes to this dance.
