I am 14 years old (15 next month) and i would really love to participate in the olympics 2012. I think i would be good at the hurdles, because i have long legs, and i am very tall, and i am good at jumping over the poles on the pavement. Any suggestions on how to train?

well the people on the team have been training for at least 10 – 12 years but if you want to at least try then start training asap. I am 16 and I have been running track since i was 11. Im not trainning for the olympics but i want to go to college for it. I run at least 5 days a week for 4 miles but i dont do hurdles, i do the 100 meter dash and 400 meter relays. I suggest you train really hard and if you are able to get around 12 seconds then you have a really good shot. good luck.

Without proper guidance ie through an athletic club or at the very least use of a track it will only be a dream join an athletics club you will learn drills and get winter training for next year when you aim (if you are in England) for the English schools this will set you on your way if you are any good your times will show jumping over poles on a pavement you need to learn the techniques of hurdling stride pattern height clearing the hurdles Ie low and fast the speed for your front foot to come down your back leg coming through to keep forward momentum yeah jumping poles in the street what has that got to do with anything sorry if it hurts but it is the truth

Well during track season for HS…the High Schools normally leave all there stuff on the track like they leave the hurdles up and the mats and stuff so after they practice u could go use it…and practice everyday and get a trainer
