Earlier in the year, under the direction of new Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, the Writing School at Manchester Metropolitan University launched The Manchester Fiction Prize – a new literary competition celebrating excellence in creative writing and the substantial cultural and literary achievements of Manchester, enhancing the city’s reputation as one of Europe’s most adventurous and creative spaces. Hundreds of entries were received and at this Gala event, the winner of the £10,000 prize and Manchester Young Writer of the Year Award will be announced. The evening will feature readings by the shortlisted writers and the judges, distinguished novelists and short story writers Sarah Hall, M. John Harrison and Nicholas Royle.
This event is taking place at Manchester Town Hall, Lord Mayor's Parlour.
