On Friday 21st November, John Cale will perform a very special concert at the legendary (and newly reopened) Cardiff Coal Exchange. Backed by his LA based band and a large compliment of musicians, this exclusive concert will see Cale produce a special performance of his most celebrated solo album ‘Paris 1919' in its entirety. This never seen before performance will be John Cale's only UK date in 2009.
John Davies Cale is a Welsh musician, composer, singer-songwriter and record producer.
Though best known for his work with the legendary Velvet Underground, John Cale has produced a massive body of work that ranges from tastefully arranged strings and piano over Dylan Thomas poetry to barely-suppressed, nigh-psychotic aggression set to high-energy avantgarde rock. Cale’s style is impossible to pin down, as almost every album contains new experiments and influences. He also is well known as the producer of such seminal works as the debuts of The Stooges, The Modern Lovers, Patti Smith’s “Horsesâ€, and Nico’s “The Marble Index.â€
