Will be the best we have ever seen or just a complete disaster? We always seem to have problems on a national scale what with Wembley and the Dome. What do you think?

I think it’s unlikely to be the ‘best we have ever seen’ or ‘a complete disaster’.
The Dome was ready on time wasn’t it? It may not have been to everyones taste (certainly not mine) and was over budget but it was there in time for the Millennium. Wembley is again over budget but the deadline is easy to push back. The international community won’t take kindly to us saying ‘Err, let’s make the Olympics 2013 shall we?’, so the pressure is far greater because the deadline is set.
    I can’t see why it won’t be a success.

I really hope it is a success, i think that it’ll create jobs, and with any luck a really good ‘vibe’ in London and the surrounding towns where the stadiums are to be built. Good Luck for 2012 i say!

It’ll be a great Olympics for the ‘Great, the Good & the Famous’ no doubt getting free this and that but for the rest of us it’ll be mundane. Keep buying those scratch cards. I pity those poor Londoners who are footing a fair bit of the bill through their council taxes.

As long as events such as Freestyle Whingeing, Extreme Queueing
    and Making-A-Mountain-Out-Of-A-
Molehill Slalom are included not only will it be an international success but GB will be guaranteed at least three gold medals thus avoiding the ignominy of finishing behind Equatorial Guinea. I’m looking forward to it immensely.

when i was out there visiting on holiday this summer, i went into a random building after wandering around the city, and they had an entire display, a mini model of the city, completely detailed, with all the new stadiums being built for the Olympics, as well as all the events labeled, where/when. it looked amazing, and i think they are doing a great job in planning. my only worry is transportation. underground is busy enough regularly, but with millions of extra people in the city to see the Olympics it may just be crazy.
