What is the reason they thought of this? Who made it up? Is it real? If the world is going to end, why then? I need almost everything there is to know on the whole ‘world ending in 2012′.
Thanks so much.

    Bored people.

When all that planetary alignment stuff didn’t pan out they had to come up with something else.

Since I have no idea what your talking about…

    Elephants have blue balls.

    Ha.

  5. ~Bella~ says:

It’s the ending date of an ancient calendar. It just stops, it doesn’t explain why or how. Personally I think they just got tired of carving.

I HIGHLY doubt that the world is going to “end” in 2012.

    Don’t worry so much.

  6. Colten S says:

I believe it was prophesied by Nostradamus.

no no silly… the world ended in 1914…. with Hitler…. this is all just an illusion!!

  9. chemistry of a bullet says:

ahh the good old Myans. Yet they have not yet been proven to be correct. But the Incans have for 2032 when they belived the world would burst into flame and be destroyed. Which is possibly true because a giant meteor has been predicted to collide with the earth in 2032 or something like that. Not sure if the date is correct but it is 203something.

  10. â™ WeeYooâ™  says:

It is a theory to do with the Mayan calendar, which ends on December 12, 2012. And everyone knows that everything that every ancient civilization has ever said or done is completely true.

  11. Chicka says:

    No.
    Don’t worry about it.
The same thing was said about the year 2000.
    Also the date 666.
    Did anything happen?
    Nope.
This whole thing is because of something to do with the Mayan calender.
It’s the year that it ended.
But that DOES NOT mean that the world will end, just that a silly calender did.
    Don’t worry about it.
    It’s a hoax.

  12. Blake Summers says:

There are so many different explanations. The most famous one is that the Mayans had this calendar a biazzilion years ago that ended in 2012. So we thought that something bad is gonna happen in 2012. (personally i think they just got tired of writing the calendar. The other reason is some scientist think that a meteor will come close to earth in 2012. Its a bunch of bull.

  13. TaeGuek says:

The Mayan calender ends in 2012. We have been going of of that calendar for all this time from thousands of years ago. On that date all the planets in the solar system will align, this only happens once every 26,000 years.

    Look up Mayan calendar on-line

  14. R U overloaded, candycoated? ♥ says:

well what i heard on a mayan video in school is that the people of MAYA EMPIRE think that the world is going to end on December 23, 2012, the world as THEY KNOW IT.
    think about it…
    pros and cons.
    pro:
their world as they know was about war etc and was different as world as we know it today. but i dont get why the world would end just cuz the MAYA CALENDAR ends.

    con:
global warming is causing a big problem now a days. greenhouse effect. there is a very little chance. but still… global warming worries me.

  15. Ms. Taurus says:

Yes, 2012 will be loving, musical, and questioning.

It’s the old “omg the ancient *Mayan* calender ends on that day” nonsense.

But I have my doubts that these people were any more “magical” than the rest of us. If they could really predict things, than their own calender wouldn’t have outlasted them by so far.

  16. Gregory S says:

Sorry google it if you want every thing.

Th myan calender ends on Dec. 12, 2012
Some scientist said that the world will be destroyed by natural disasters in 2012.

    Have not heard anything else

  17. icysk8r says:

    the ancient mayans predicted it
there is supposed to be a meteor to hit the earth, as the mayans fortold, but in some religions, it is the second coming of christ.
the reason many scientists believe this is because the mayans “predicted” september 11th.
but i think it is a load of crap
there was 220 dates predicted for the end of the world
    and they were all wrong
so why would this one be right?
please put me as best answer when you can
    hope i helped
    -collin

  18. guraqt2me says:

This is simply plain old conjecture on the part of individuals who have been afflicted with the bite of “prediction addiction”.
No where does it state, that the end will occur at this time, in the Bible. The 2012 prognostication was introduce by the Mayan Calendar – a pagan icon devised from sun-worship.

  19. lanabeth86 says:

Go to http://www.december212012.com and a website will pop up with any and all information about the mayan calendar and what is predicted for that day and why.

  20. Dunnman87 says:

There were many ancient civilizations that believed that the world would come to an end in 2012. But mainly the Mayans are credited with this theory. They were great astronomers and they used the stars to develop their calandar system. They made calandars for every year in the future up to 2012. They believed that on December 21st 2012, the galaxy will align with the center of the universe and that we will be sucked into a black hole. Personally I dont agree with this theory. I dont think anything is going to happen.

  21. Aly Garland says:

    OMG
its really scary but apparently its also very true
many years ago, Marlin ( a wizard guy)
    and many other people
    made maps
maps that indicated the 911 attack (and it came true)
maps that indicated war between the US and other states (which also came true)
and they made graphs and drawings but
it all stopped December 21, 2012
    They named it “Doomsday 2012″
The religious people who did they drawing and predicted the future lived many many MANY years apart
They said that when people could fly (planes)
the end of the world will be near
They also said theres going to be one more war,
and its gonna happen on Doomsday and theres gonna
be a lot of bombs and explotions.
    I personally… am mortified :|
but then again, everyone said that we were gonna die
in the year 2000 and it never happend (THANK YOU GOD)

  22. ptran2011 says:

It’s a ancient Mayan prediction that the world is going to end on december 21, 2012. They’ve been pretty accurate with their predictions but you never know because there has been many predictions from the most intelligent scholars that did not come true. I believe Nostradamus made a prediction of the end of the world too, and his date is different from the Mayans. On the discover channel they had a documentary that had to do with the zodiac or something. They said the earth was suppose to perfectly allign with something causing the earth to get off its axis tilt [23.5 degrees I think] which would cause intense hurricanes, earthquakes, etc….hence “the end of the world”

It is merely the last date on the Mayan calendar.

  25. damnhippies says:

Woah sweetheart, calm down the the extra un needed symbols, it pretty much screams, “I’m SUPER YOUNG AND LOVE THESE THINGS”

  26. Druantia says:

The world is not going to end in 2012. The theory is based on the Maya calendar: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maya_calendar

Yes, the Mayan calendar does end in 2012, but here you should understand that the calendar is cyclical. Once it ends, it simply starts all over again from the beginning. This is actually cause of great celebration for the Mayan people, and certainly not a doomsday prediction. For more research, you can check the source links.

  27. carley says:

    were you alive in 2000?
if you were do you not remember all the hype made about them world going to end then? i mean if any year makes since wouldn’t have been at 12 in the morning then? yeah well we’re still here, and the cold hard fact is the world isn’t gonna end when we expect it.

  28. Amelie says:

Maybe the Mayan calendar ends at 2012 because they didn’t get a chance to finish it. They are an extinct race, so that means that their calender had to stop at sometime, and maybe it just so happens that it was 2012.
But it will be interesting to see how people react at the date gets closer.

  29. I'm back says:

The card in the middle represents the creative force behind the project, be it a person, organization, or other entity. Knight of Wands, when reversed: The dark essence of fire, such as a great conflagration: One filled with vitality and limitless appetite. A sexy and exciting person, obsessed with style and outward appearance, overconfident in their abilities, and foolhardy in their actions. A hot temper and domineering nature, coupled with a love of false drama and all things theatrical. Anxiety over remaining in one place or with one person for too long. The rapid approach, or more likely departure, of someone or something that ruptures your world. Often suggests travel as the result of discord, or cruel indifference.
The card on the top represents imagination – the prophetic image that stems from the creative force of the previous card to initiate the project. This is the poetry or voice of the undertaking. Knight of Swords, when reversed: The dark essence of air behaving as fire, such as a tornado: A merciless and skillful warrior, unfettered by emotion or conscience. A nihilist who can refuse not even the most insurmountable of challenges. A person who inspires fear and hate through their domineering nature and the power of their presence. Speaking without tact or tolerance, in a sarcastic manner. May portend the swift initiation or conclusion of conflict, through the calamitous invocation of force.
The card on the left represents emotion – the feelings aroused by or surrounding the ideation of the project that takes place in the previous card. This is the music or scent of the undertaking. Two of Swords (Peace): Contradictory characteristics brought together as a means of resolving a conflict. Refusing to be ruled by negative emotions. Strife brought to a close through clarity of mind and restraint of force. Turning a blind eye to the minor infractions of others.
The card on the bottom represents thought – the analytical process of organizing the project and capturing the emotional content of the previous card. This is the science or vision of the undertaking. King of Wands: The essence of fire behaving as air, such as lightning: A great and daring leader who inspires others to rise to challenges alongside him. An artist who can take hold of an idea and make it a reality through bold action. One who is forceful, charismatic, and honest, leading by example, but unafraid to invest authority in others. A dashing and magnetic personality, carrying authority naturally, and striking at the world with swiftness and grace.
The card on the right represents manifestation – the real work involved in completing the project, and the form it will take upon culmination. This is the painting or touch of the undertaking. The Emperor: Worldly authority and power. Social mastery and oratory. One who is intelligent, experienced, confident and reasonable. A patriarch or primary male influence. The motive force of politics and society. The ability to fulfill plans and use mental control over the emotions.

  30. Peace Crusader says:

Do not worry. Do not be scared. I assure you that the world will not end on 2012 December 21 but it will end one day. Nostradamus’ prediction of when the earth will end is far into the future, past about 3700. He still has many prophecies that are not fulfilled yet. Remember that if there is a beginning, there is an end.

The Mayan’s Mesoamerican Long Count calendar forms the basis for a New Age belief, first forecast by Jose Arguelles, that a cataclysm will take place on or about 2012 December 21 (Wikipedia). It will be the end of a Mayan calendar cycle to start a new cycle.

In the book of Revelation, it tells us about a period of a thousand years of peace. Has this occurred already since the time of Jesus? Not yet. That will still come. Those that give predictions of the world’s end, such as 2012 and numerous times during the past, are pseudo-preachers. Have they talked to God directly? If so, give proofs.

But there is something that is certain—and that is our physical death. This is what we should prepare for. It may come when least expected. We do not know the day and the hour. It will come like a thief in the night. So we just have to be prepared all the time. Search for the true God and when we find Him, follow His commandments and remain in Him until our last dying breath.

This is all that we have to do. It is faith in the true God that we can take with us when we depart from this world. If we denied Him, He will deny us also before the Father in Heaven and send us to Hell. This is very scary – to live in Hell forever. If we knew Him and loved Him and followed His commandments, then He may reward us to live with Him eternally in His kingdom in Heaven. This is the survival kit that we should have.

What is also certain to happen very soon (in about 2012 or earlier) is World War III and this is a nuclear war. This calamitous war will start from the Philippines, at Spratly Islands in particular. The Spratly Islands lie on the South China Sea mostly near the coast of the Philippines. The Holy Spirit told us that the troubles in the Philippines is like the wick of a lamp. Once the wick is lit, it will be on and aglow. He told us about this prophecy more than a decade ago. Please read what is happening in the Philippines now. Spratly Islands which is being claimed wholly or partly by six countries including China is in the news and considered a tinderbox, a flash point. It is very rich in oil and gas resources, more than the reserve of Kuwait. The high price of oil may trigger the grabbing of these islands and start the war.

Four independent prophecies point to the certainty that this will happen. These are Nostradamus’ prophecies to happen around this time (quatrains 6:24 and 2:62) , the 56th Chinese prophecy of Tuey Bei Tu (the past 55 prophecies have already been fulfilled), Revelation 9:18 of the Holy Bible, and those that the Holy Spirit revealed to us. If you are interested in the details about these prophecies, please send me your request via email.

First of all, the actual date that the Mayan Calendar starts and finishes is disputed and refuted,
But let’s assume that 12-12-2012 is generally the accurate date the 13th b’ak’tun will end.

“But the Mayans said nothing about anything beyond that date!!!”
No, they were aware of the 14th b’ak’tun.

In fact, the Mayans knew of previous cycles, (and ones to come)
as the Long Count calendar was actually sort of short for them, calendar wise.
They had different calendars to make up for this.

Now, assuming December 2012 is the end of anything even though it’s unlikely,
the Mayans speak of 2012 as the beginning of a new golden age.
That doesn’t sound so bad, does it?

The Mayans we’re an amazing people, they made an amazing calendar, and their stargazing and solar mapping is awe inspiring.
But they never talk about “cataclysms” or “end times”, it’s all about rebirth baby, yeah baby yeah.

The guy behind the doomsday nonsense is José Argülles, he started this end of the world rubbish.
The Mayans did not predict the end of the world, José Argülles did!

So before you build a bomb shelter and buy a bunch of assault rifles, remember:
4772 October 12 AD (the non translated Mayan date that might be December 2012)
is not the end of anything friends, but maybe the beginning of something better, if you choose
to believe in any of this silliness.

    So it’s win/win!
