Watching the Olympics i was wondering what do you think the steps are in learning how to even start training for the Olympics? Especially for curling?

  1. Satellite says:

People who compete in the Olympics are there because they’ve been playing such sports since their childhood or teens. If you’re an adult and just deciding to pick up a sport, It’s doubtful that you’ll be able to master the sport to an olympian level.

To compete in curling, join a curling club and a curling team. You may also want to take lessons, it’s not as easy as it looks!

Get good, compete in tournaments at your club and in your city (you’ll have to sign up and pay entry fees for these!). Win them, compete in tournaments at a higher level and win them, eventually, compete in tournaments at the national level and win.

Then the next time your country does an Olympic qualifying tournament, if you have won enough tournaments and gotten enough attention on the national level you will be invited to participate. If you win, you’ll get to wear your country’s colours at the olympics.

    Good luck, curling’s awesome!

Don’t listen to Sattlelight, the oldest curler to compete at the Olympics was Scott Baird who was 55 years old. Yes, join a local club.
