I have a king-sized bed now but I’m looking at new furniture sets and the one I like best comes as a set with a queen bed. I don’t mind getting a queen mattress but is the size difference that much that I’ll really be able to notice and miss it and then regret it? It’s usually just me and lazy boyfriend using it and ocassionally my dog lounges on it.

King is the biggest
6 inches in length and 6 inches in width
Standard queen is 60 by 80 and standard king is 76 by 80
A Queen bed is 60″ wide by 80″ long. And there are two different King size beds, the Standard King can be either 76″ or 78″ wide by 80″ long and the California King is 72″ wide by 84″ long. There is a noticeable difference, and if your down grating from a King to a Queen you will feel this difference. Good Luck!
i agree to bagid02′s answer,correct.
You will lose eighteen inches of bed space by shrinking down to a queen.
My husband and I have had a king for nearly forty years. Even get a king when we stay in hotels. A queen will be much more crowded.
Most bedroom sets have the king size available but you just have to pay more. If you were going to have to buy a queen mattress anyway dollar wise you should come out about the same.
Good Luck and Happy Holidays.
A “King” size is a few inches bigger then a “Queen” size, a “California” is bigger then a “King” and you can get a over big California that is huge but your going to pay for the sheets and everything else that goes with it, once found. My daughter has one and the whole family can sleep in it.
Queen- 60×80
Olympic Queen-66×79 1/2
King- 76×80
California Queen 72×84
Olympic Queen is a good compromise, it uses a standard queen box spring and fits in a queen bed frame and the mattress itself is a little bigger and comes with support for the extra width. So far, Simmons is the only bed manufacturer that makes the Olympic Queen.
