I know Mongolia got its first gold and Bahrain got its first medal of any kind, which happened to be gold. I’m sure there are others as well.

umm who cares seriously, everyone knows US are the best and if we dont win gold in that event then it must be pointless and we are not interested.

Togo won their first proud medal in kayaking. Although it was a bronze, it was a wonderfully fun accomplishment.

Ecuador got their first ever silver medal – their only other medal was a gold in the 90′s. Togo got their first medal ever as did Tajikstan.

Mongolia and Bahrain got their first golds. Panama too.

So that’s 3 first-ever gold medals for Mongolia, Bahrain and Panama and first ever medals for Togo and Tajikstan.

Six countries won their first ever Olympic medals: Afghanistan, Bahrain, Mauritius, Sudan, Tajikistan and Togo.
