Albertville, France was the last Winter Olympics to be held in the same year as the Summer Olympics. Back in 1986, the IOC decided to advance the Winter games two years before the Summer games.
So, will the future Winter games return back to the usual year as the Summer games do?
The point was to have alternating games every two years. I don’t see it changing anytime soon.
There seems no reason to change it. So I’ll say no.
