It depends on who follow these customs. When the President of the United States (assuming he is male) marries a queen, the queen can be the tradition of his country and force the president a prince (in the UK to be) or King (depending upon whether the nation can or is the what she called the husband of Queen). However, the Queen will not abdicate his throne and the first lady. Since the two govern a country, it must be a consensus reached between the two.
