I was wondering how do you go by trying out for the US Gymanstics Olypmic team. My daughter is 12 and she’s really good and I really want her to qualify for the Olympics. How old do you have to be and how do you go by trying out?

Okay, OLYMPIC GYMNASTICS- first you have to test elite. Also most of the girls who are trying out for 2008 have been elite level for many years. Also you must be a certain age- I think 16 in the Olympic year. So maybe if she is level 9 or so now she may have a chance in 2012. GOOD LUCK!

If you don’t already know this answer, then your daughter is either not really that good, or you need to be more involved in your daughter’s gymnastics, because as her parent you should know these things.

first, your daughter have to place among the top 6 individual all-around players in the National Open so that your daughter can become a member of the National team.

also, a gymnast must be at least 16 years old in the calendar year so that he/she can be able to compete in the Olympics. so basically, your daughter can only qualify to participate starting at the 2012 Olympics.
