ROFL@ photographer @ 0:27 – Pops up like a meerkat. . takes a photo and bobs back down. LOL.
why can’t I find a video of this without corny music in the background?? It completely ruins the pureness of the moment. It would be much stronger if the only sounds we hear were the ovations of the crowd. If someone knows of this video without music please link it to me, ty
Does his dads shirt say “Have you hugged your son today?” if so how fitting and supporting
@rebeccapatterson4 or happy. . . depends on how u look at it
@varghejo Redmond, Barcelona ’92 and Akhwari, Mexico ’68. . . . Greatest Moments
Great britain
THIS IS SO O SAD
fall seven times, stand up eight
es la verdad admirable lo de este tipo te da ganas de llorar loco !!!!!!!!!!!!!
his dad has a nike cap. . . nike sales in quarter 4 in 92 went up high after this event. . . does this ring a bell
It’s not always the champions we remember in sports – sometimes it’s moments like this that make us realize what we (often pathetic) humans can aspire to. Thanks PTI guys for reminding me about this incredible event – and happy belated Father’s Day!
@makeupforever8
Me too man. . .
Epic. . . a greatest moment. . . . !!!
ugh i cried :’(
Phew. If that isn’t a Father’s Day message, what is. BTW–is that Chris Botti music in the background??
I was too young to see this when it happened. But every time when I watch it, even though I know what is going to happen I start to tear up when Derek gets up and wants to finish the race. He had no reason, he just wanted to get over the finish line and his father coming out was just instinctive fatherly love for his child. This is what its all about- the olympics, not money, not fame but your own soul. . . . . nothing can destroy the human soul
I think is pretty sad that this happened to him. . . . but maybe if he had won,he would only be remembered until a better athlete came. . . . NOW he will always be remembered no matter how many athletes come!!
Beautiful. God bless him. I’m sure it was hard to see years and years of work lost on a single injury.
I did laugh when the Olympic staff member came over to them and his father told him to go away though, lol.
winning is not a sign of a champion but not giving up
its not a matter of winning but not giving up no matter what the odds, thats the mark of a true champion
wow, i cried, olympic gold!
Like the man who finished last and 3 hrs behind in the 68 Olympics marathon, it is moments like this that trully inspire. I have all but forgoten the names of the medal winners that day, however I will always remember when a father put everything aside to help his son. ———-A father and son bond that goes beyond words.
I still cry whenever I see this. . . .
Wow really?
U have witnessed one of the greatest mentoring relationship in the history!
He was disqualified as soon as his dad touched him. In my book that makes it all the better–a record book that says he did not finish but millions of people who say he did. Contrast that with Mark McGwire who owns all the records in the book but knows the fans don’t recognize them.
