The sheer Charlotte Todd dress that Kate Middleton once wore at a charity fashion show -- and was said to have won Prince William over in -- sold at auction in London on Thursday night for $125,890 (78,000 pounds), Bloomberg reports.

That's $105,000 and another $21,000 for commission. It was expected to go for only $13,000 to $16,000.

The Associated Press has some info on the buyer: It was bought by an unidentified male British buyer at a London auction Thursday for 65,000 pounds ($104,948) and an additional 13,000 pounds ($20,989) of buyer's premium.

"He thinks it's an iconic piece," said an unnamed man who represented the buyer at the auction. "He's very happy." People spoke with the frock's creator, Charlotte Todd, who made the dress as a college assignment "called 'The Art of Seduction,' which is quite apt, really. I didn't know who Kate Middleton was and I didn't put her in it. It was just pure chance!" She revealed that she's never even met the princess-to-be.

Todd told Reuters that she plans to use her newfound riches to buy a house with her husband and that she's now considering a return to designing.
