Baker Fiona Cairns, who trained as both a graphic designer and a pastry chef, has long been a British celebrity favorite -- she has a standing cake order from Paul McCartney every Christmas. And now, she can count Kate Middleton and Prince William as fans as well. She will make a traditional brandy-flavored fruit cake, which was chosen by the royal couple after they tasted a variety of samples. Cairns told People.com that it was clear from the start that Kate knew exactly what she wanted.
ALL the Royal Wedding Ceremony Details
The royal wedding cake will have a floral theme and will be decorated with flowers representing the four corners of the U.K.: the English rose, the Scottish thistle, Welsh Daffodil, and the Irish Shamrock. Other decorative details include the acorn and the oak for strength and endurance, the bridal rose for happiness, ivy leaves symbolizing marriage and the lily of the valley for sweetness and humility. The cake will also feature the couple's new cipher, which will most likely be made up of their initials and will remain a secret until the big day -- April 29th.
Royal Wedding Music: Who Will be Performing?
Reportedly, Prince William has also put in a special request for a second sweet treat: a chocolate cookie cake. The McVitie's biscuit company has been asked to bake the cookie cake using a recipe favored by the Windsors'. It will be served at the reception.
