Everyone was getting geared up for the royal wedding, an historical event, possibly the biggest of a lifetime. We were expecting some very passionate fans to go all out, but there were just as many who showed up in a less outrageous way. We asked London-based photographer David Axelbank to go out and capture the festive buzz out on the streets. He found many of them between Victoria Station and Buckingham Palace, plus at least three in Brixton, who wore homemade hairpieces from material purchased at Brixton Market. He made mention of how chilled out the police were, given the intense security and how overbearing they usually are on a day-to-day basis.
You can see that everyone he captures -- both British-born and foreign -- are enjoying the festive atmosphere, almost like a huge street party, on such a momentous day.
