  2. Delgarits says:

If only he had the prayer amplifier Those 16 people would be alive.

  3. Sam C says:

why could not he pray AS he followed procedure? God is powerful and can work miracles, but hey Also gift us brains for a reason.

  4. Wilco says:

he was not livin on a prayer

  5. Blue Footsâ„¢ Can Anyone? says:

One must first help Themselves before God intervenes.

  6. Spock says:

  7. emma lol says:

  8. SmileWild says:

No, Because he is an idiot. Emergency. Measures. Might. Save. You. Praying. Will. Not.

  9. LJ says... says:

  10. MOTH FATHER REVISITED says:

That. . . was the dumbest thing I have ever read. Good, I hope he rocks in jail.

  11. Ron R says:

God was actually saying prob. . . fly the damn plane stupid. . . . What other advice do you want?. . . . . lol

  12. Ms Minger says:

And they say religion is less harm. Bloody hell.

  13. daken says:

And That is why religious fundamentalism is evil if he had trusted in His training and not the magic sky daddy or His, 16 May people be alive today

  14. SEE A HOPE says:

maybe thats what happened on 9 / 11

  15. CC says:

I agree with the fact That he was in prison. Prayers are fine, if action is not required of you. As The Pilot, who has the primary responsibility to act, he failed to act appropriately. He is Responsible for the Consequences.

  16. The Dark Side says:

That’s Criminally Irresponsible and imprisonment was right.

  17. Joanna says:

Probably he was islamic, praying to Allah.

  18. israel8491 says:

No, the pilot was Irresponsible and had the totally wrong reaction. The pilot was trained in Emergency Situations That, Should he go through ‘certain procedures in order to save as many lives as Possible. Those are the procedures he followed Should Have. And it says somewhere that ‘God Help Those That Help Themselves “, so even if one is very religious it can be seen still thats the pilot did the wrong thing.

  19. Xplore says:

yes. . . . he got very afraid. . . When you get very afraid and you’re religious you get started prayingwhen very afraid and you’re not, you start being paranoid

  20. AmericanPrincess says:

Yes and No. I think praying That was a good idea, but hey Should Have done the emergency stuff first and THEN started praying. Honestly, I think he did an ignorant thing. He put other people’s lives at risk and, although praying is wonderful, it was stupid!

  21. Thomas Jefferson says:

HE Prayed TO THE WRONG GOD!! O ‘FSM ALWAYS SAVES!

  22. meeomyo says:

If the plane was so out of control and was praying His only option available was praying That is the correct answer. However if he Could have tried something else and avoid the crash Possibly he failed to do so. His duty he failed to do for sure.

  23. De Rerum Natura says:

what cracks me up about this Is That most, if not all, or the jury, the judge, and the prosecution in the case likely pray for things Themselves. They do so presumably Because They believe prayer works. Yet They put this pilot in jail for praying, do something They Themselves Because They think it works, actually taking action INSTEAD. Talk about cognitive dissonance!

  24. Matilda says:

I think he That Should Have done all that he Could to save as much as Possible human life, and that would be by taking all the emergency actions That he HAS learned in order to be a pilot and not praying to some “magical almighty” being . I hope he gets 16 lawsuits for wrongful death.

  25. Michael B - Repeal Prop. 8! says:

I think the pilot Should Have done both. Sometimes God’s answer is for you to help yourself.

  26. Andrea Guitar Heroine says:

Yeah, and this comes after the Christians started blowing Their loads about the pilot who pulled off the water landing without harming anyone, claiming a miracle from God as That. Well, HERE is your miracle, Christians!

  27. lolcat24 says:

This reminds of a little story my Uncle told: There was a poor man, and everyday he would ask God to help him win the Lottery and get rich, Each Day Until he asked this many days after He asked God why do not you help me? God replied: Buy a Lottery ticket first. This can be Applied to this story, God can not just help you out of thin air, you have to do something. . If That pilot was praying leg WHILE doing the emergency procedure maybe They Might have all survived. . God HAS said he can not interfering with the problems of Man With The, That’s why we have Free Will, he can only help us fix em, he just can not fix them out of thin air for us. . . God can only help us, if we help ourselves. . .

  28. peace says:

That is insane !!!!!!! Heck no, he did the absolute wrong thing, by not trying to save the plane, I would call him a murderer. At least if he had tried, and The Same Amount of people died, it was unavoidable, but try to not just, wow. Guess no one ever told him That God Helps Those That Help Themselves. Peace in Christ

  29. Graceful Skull says:

    What a moron!

  30. Larry R says:

Prosecutors Say That Both the plane’s engines after cut out, the pilot succumbed to panic, praying out loud INSTEAD following emergency procedures and then opting to crash-land in the Mediterranean trying to reach INSTEAD the nearest airport. That is not at all surprising Considering That he is a Muslim. Muslim’s have a very different attitude Towards prayer and “God’s will” than Westerners do. They have had problems in Afghanistan with the Mullahs interfering with Crash Investigation. They would come out and try and shut down the investigation, Because They Do not believe in ideas like investigation and maintenance. If something breaks, it was God’s Will That broke it, and if It does not break, then That too is God’s will. Investigating the cause of the crash is seen as a violation or that. Preventave maintenance is a Difficult Concept to teach in most of the Arab world.

  31. Patio of Fun says:

I saw the interview with Katie Couric Sully, he very emphatically did not waste a second in prayer, he got on with what needed doing. That he said he figured the Passengers could do the praying, having nothing better to do.

  32. a_measured_brush says:

23 besides the pilot survived. He ditched the plane into the ocean. Recently a pilot in the U.S. His plane ditched in a river. Everyone survived in the Latter case, and he was viewed as a hero. It’s easy to second guess someone after the fact, but no one can say for sure how things Might have Worked Out Differently.
