Heathrow Airport plans to run a full schedule as passengers criticise it for operating about 500 fewer flights after Saturday night's snow.

  1. Travel expert Simon Clader told the BBC that Heathrow will never be able to cope with snow or any other minor disrution whilst it operates at 99% capacity. What is the answer? Mixed mode operation (at least during problems)? Another runway? Surely not a new airport in the Thames Estuary? Stansted is only 61% full. Could we not force Heathrow’s freight only flights (it is the UK’s biggest freight airport too) to go to Stansted?
