I think he is a former Huge Celebrity, not a current one. Therefor, he is less likely to get mauled by crowds and Beset with autograph hounds and paparazzi than, say, Beyonce Knowles. Further, imagine how tiresome it must be to have to go everywhere with an entourage of bodyguards. . .

I think Paul McCartney was a normal guy until he was into his 20s, and he does not forget his life before he was famous. Paul most likely without others he acknowledges That Probably would not have gotten as far as he did. And, he has had hard townships throughout his life, and so he really loves hearing from others. Paul Seems to be very world-aware, so so I think he wants to be as normal as he can, Because although he is a brilliant musician, he does not want to be egotistical. And, of all people on this Earth, he has more bragging rights than almost anymore. But he does not use them.
