Suzanne Vega Concert Tickets, Lyric Theatre, The Lowry, Salford, Manchester
Tickets to the pioneering American singer/songwriter live at The Lowry, Manchester.
In the early to mid-1980s, she emerged from the same Greenwich Village folk scene that had spawned Bob Dylan and Joan Baez twenty years previously.
Although her work borrowed much from folk's tradition of storytelling through song, her gentle yet powerfully political acoustic pop brought singles such as "Marlene on the wall', 'Luka' and the hugely successful 'Solitude Standing' album to a global audience. In 1990, her career received an extra boost when UK-based rap duo DNA released a remix of a cappella song 'Tom's Diner', which charted world-wide.
She has inspired a whole new generation of musicians – Beth Orton and Alanis Morrisette spring to mind – and tonight is another chance to hear those beautiful songs and Suzanne's hauntingly fragile vocals. Wonderful.
