Altrincham born saxophonist and woodwind supremo Alan Barnes returns home for a gig with his esteemed quintet. Supporting this gig is the AGSB senior swing band, winners of the “Muisc for Youth” Outstanding performance award in 2009. Alan has won many awards for his playing and composing and toured with The Midnight Follies Orchestra and The Pasadena Roof Orchestra before joining the hard bop band of Tommy Chase (1983-86), the Jazz Renegades (1986-88) and the Humphrey Lyttelton Band (1988-92) and running the Pizza Express Modern Jazz Sextet for eight years. Lately he has played with Jamie Cullum, Bjork, and Laurie Holloway on Strictly Come Dancing and the Michael Parkinson show.  His strong tone, assured improvisations and imaginative arranging technique have marked him out as one of the country’s top players, respected by both his audience and fellow players alike.

An evening of 1920’s Burlesque and Swinging Jazz

This band are so going to suit The Lounge. Step back in time to our dimly lit,  Speakeasy and enjoy 52 Skidoo and The Bombshells. A three piece Harlem swing band that will turn back the clock to play the dazzling repertoire of Fats Waller in the style for which it was written. The Bombshells are feathered felines with twirling tassels, they  shimmy a saucy striptease, comical “can can” plus many more… A fun loving package smothered in saucy pouts and poses.

Classic favourites like Ain’t Misbehavin’, The Joint is Jumpin’ and Your Feet’s Too Big are carefully woven into lesser known Waller hits like Dinah, S’pozin and I’m Crazy ‘bout My Baby to create an authentic 1920/30s Harlem party atmosphere. The evening includes fizz on arrival, food thoughout the night, great music and the sauciest dance show in town.

Son of the world's most venerated reggae supestar, Band on the Wall is delighted to present Julian 'Ju Ju' Marley and his 14-piece band in concert. Followed by reggae aftershow party with some of the city's finest dub djs spinning it sweet into the early hours. Inner City Music present Chetham's Big Band – one of the UK's most loved big bands presenting a magical evening of great tunes performed by some of the city's most talented young musicians.
Chetham’s Big Band was formed in 1990 and has since enjoyed much success on the national jazz scene and laid the foundation for the schools current broad-based and highly successful Jazz Programme.  
The Big Band has broadcast on Jazz FM and won the prize for professionalism in the Daily Telegraph Young Jazz Competition. It has also won the Junior Section of the BBC Radio 2 Big Band of the Year Competition in 1996, 2000 and 2005, and in 2001 was runner up in the Senior Section. The Big Band has broadcast for the BBC from London's Golders Green Hippodrome and Birmingham's Pebble Mill Studios, as well as having been awarded the Gold Award at the Boosey and Hawkes National Concert Band Festival on numerous occasions.
Chetham's Big Bands and Jazz Ensembles have worked with such eminent jazz musicians as Don Lusher, Bobby Shew, Mark Nightingale, Jiggs Wigham, Tim Garland, Frank Mantooth, Pete King, Bob Mintzer, Malcolm Creese, Jim Hart, Paul Clarvis, Alan Barnes, Kenny Baker and John Escreet.
Expect a great night of brilliant music from this incredibly talented group of musicians.
