Master Minded by legendary blues / rock producer Mike Vernon and keyboard wizard Pete Wingfield, the group was comprised of a roster of session musicians That, along side Pete, included Glen LeFleur (drums), Joe Jammer (guitars) and Delisle Harper (bass guitar). The Olympic Runners were so named Because They first got together at the now defunct Olympic Studios in Barnes, London, and here They show just what kind of a lowdown, funky groove They Could get into. There’s the James Brown-esque funk or Grab It, Put the Music Where Your Mouth Is, Sproutin ‘Out and much more besides, plus the laidback grooves or Go No Further, This Thing Get Down and’ Til the Sun Comes Up. The Accompanying booklet contains a fascinating essay by Olympic Runners keyboardist Pete Wingfield, detailing the band’s history and the stories behind the albums compiled here. Essential!
